‘Late for the Interurban’ is a larger than life sculptural tribute to the ‘J. P. Patches Show’', Seattle’s longest running local children’s TV show. Airing 1958 to 1982 the show capturing millions of 'Patches Pal' fans, all still kids at heart. The sculpture expresses the exuberant zany nature of the show with two of it's main caricatures running in opposite directions, arms hooked, for a bus that no longer exists. The sculpture has numerous puns and references to the shows history adorning J. P.’s jacket and hat, but don’t look under Gertrude’s skirt!. 3.5 m (12’) away is an independent interactive element, the ICU2TV, a regular feature in the show, which hosts a detailed narrative of the show and it's history. The ICU2TV doubles as a photo opportunity framing the sculpture encouraging the public to pose and be photographed with the ‘Stars’ on ‘TV’!
