Maquette Studies
'Maquettes' is used to describe a 3 dimensional 'sketch' or study used in the development of a sculptural idea. The maquettes are less than 12" tall (30.48 cm) tall, large enough to establish anatomy, gesture and features such as the face, hands and feet but small enough to cast solid in bronze. The maquettes sometimes are used to establish a larger scale work (as in 'Ped', 'Crouching Man', 'Salutation', 'Temple' and 'Neck Fragment') and are a completed sculpture in themselves. In the enlarging process, the idea is further refined and changed to the larger scale.
